Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad district which is tucked right in between the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu and Vallarimala in Kozhikode at 2,100 m above the sea level. It is maintained with its pristine beauty and offer the tourists some spectacular views of the rare flora and fauna.

Chembra is located near the town of Meppadi and is 8 km south of Kalpetta. A heart-shaped lake called ‘Hridayathadakam’ which is en route to the top of the peak is a major tourist attraction. The lake is believed to have never dried up. You can find the lake halfway to the peak. 

After getting to the lake, you can trek through about a km or two through the dense trees. Permission from the forest office in Meppadi is required for trekking up to the Chembra Peak. Camping is not allowed here as there is a danger of lurking wild animals because of the sensitive ecology.
